REdI - VHA's Resuscitation Education Initiative

The Resuscitation Education Initiative (REdI) is a national program to standardize, document, track and monitor the provision of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training throughout VHA. REdI is a business unit within the EES Simulation Learning Education and Research Network (SimLEARN). It will provide critical train-the-trainer clinical training support to the field's efforts to provide training to large numbers of medical center clinical and non-clinical employees.

REdI is a T initiative under the New Models of Care Specialty Care Operating Plan. The goals of the REdI Program are to expand the number of employees certified in ACLS/BLS/ATLS (over time) to advance the quality of patient care, and to improve the documentation for resuscitation training.

There are several goals with the REdI program: Secure leased space and hire staff; Develop policy and curriculum; National equipment and e-learning procurement; Field equipment procurement; and a Curriculum rollout. The program will be located in leased space in Orlando, Fla., in proximity to the SimLEARN National Center.
