Learning Management
Supports enterprise-level innovative healthcare solutions by facilitating the development of simulation-based curricula and amplifying resource distribution to enhance Veteran health outcomes.
Learning Management oversees:
SimLEARN Innovation Center for Education (SLICE)
The SLICE program operates as VHA’s national program for advancing clinical simulation training, education and research across VHA. This network of partnerships among SimLEARN and facilities (known as SLICE cells) seeks to improve Veteran patient outcomes through simulation education and training of VA facility health care professionals. With 22 cells nationwide, VHA employees can take courses at nearby SLICE centers, eliminating travel to the National Simulation Center and decreasing the need for VHA clinicians to spend time away from Veteran care.
SimLEARN Virtual Academy (SVA)
SimLEARN is pleased to present the SimLEARN Virtual Academy! SVA leverages innovation and technology to advance simulation education through synchronous and asynchronous modalities. The SVA also reduces training costs, minimize logistic requirements and reduces the time clinical staff are away from Veteran care through the elimination of travel.

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
The purpose of Trauma Nurse Core Course is to teach Registered Nurses core level knowledge and psychomotor skills, which are defined as central or key elements of the multidimensional processes involved in the initial assessment and management of sick or injured patients. TNCC also provides a foundation for integrated communication and collaboration in identifying and treating the sick or injured. The intent of TNCC is to help the nurse develop a rapid and accurate approach when caring for the ill or injured patient. TNCC consists of lectures, hands-on psychomotor skill stations and interactive online learning. TNCC is based on the nursing process, which is emphasized through the components of the course.
Offered virtually and at multiple sites – for more information or to register for TNCC only, please e-mail: VHASimLEARNTNCCregistration@va.gov
Out of Operating Room Airway Management Train the Provider (OOORAM)
This course provides an application-based foundation for providing instruction within traditional modalities, as well as simulation based training by combining lecture, discussion, practical exercises, and hands-on simulation activities.
Out of Operating Room Airway Management Train the Provider Instructor (OOORAM-I)
This course combines didactic and hands-on simulation activities so participants can develop the skills necessary to design, develop, implement, and debrief simulation based OOORAM training in their work centers.
To enroll into OOORAM/OOORAM-I, please contact your local OOORAM Class Coordinator or TMS local administrator.
